Tony La Russa Will Return to Manage Cards in 2011 →
oldtimefamilybaseball:
Thrill as he benches Colby Rasmus in favor of the fetid corpse of Randy Winn! Chill as he makes his third pitching change in the inning! Spill your beer as you fall asleep following the endless pitching changes that I just described!

Post-Season
I admittedly buried my head in the sand the last few weeks of the season. Now, it’s time to dive in to play-offs.
Teams I will root for:
-Twins
-Rays
-Giants
Teams I will actively root against:
-Yankees (always)
-Reds (see below)
Sad thing is I’d probably be rooting for the Reds if the whole Phillips/Cueto debacle hadn’t happened. I love my Scotty Rolen, but I...

I don’t know about you, but I probably wouldn’t walk to get to the guy I traded away at home… Regardless of the situation or match up.
Whoever was announcing the game talked about how Ludwick kept his emotions “in check.”. I beg to differ. His emotions were f$&@ you guys! Enjoy October at home.
I don't have a lot left to say...
A sweep by the Cubs is demoralizing. As if the end of this season already didn’t suck enough.
So let’s focus on the fact that Adam Wainwright has 18 wins and a .250 ERA. And yet the Cardinals have lost a grand majority of his starts in the past month. Adam should easily be at 20 wins, and should be hearing his name far more often linked to Cy Young.
But he’s not and he...
TLR What???
So TLR says he’s under more scrutiny because he’s in the last year of his contract and his team is underachieving .
UM, DUH!!!
Isn’t that when you SHOULD be under more scrutiny?
While everybody has been watching football today,...

Oh no, dear, you’re not the only one :)
There is not one baseball game on in my parts. :( I choose to watch nothing over watching football.

I <3 me some Mark Grace (probably the only long-time Cub I’ll ever say that about), and he is currently cracking me up in extra innings.
The dude he’s doing the game with, (OK Gracey just called him Josh Lewin?) I want to punch that guy in the nose. He sounds like a used car salesman doing a commercial. Or an annoying little newsboy shouting “extry! extry!”

9/10/10
Last night I turned on the game and it was 4-2, the Cardinals were winning. I had the thought, maybe… maybe they can actually pull this off.
And almost immediately the Braves scored 5 runs.
I feel like two things are happening with the top 3 in the pitching rotation:
1) Burnout. It’s been a long season and they’ve been carrying the team on their back the WHOLE time.
2)...
Basically...
The Cardinals are always out to prove me wrong. After that nasty little error in the first, I wrote them off. Then they had an offensive explosion (which they could have used a few weeks ago).
I just hope they didn’t use it all up tonight.
(P.S WHY IS BRENDAN RYAN NOT STARTING EVERY GAME?)
(P.P.S At what point do we place some blame on Mark McGwire as the hitting coach? I’m...
Painful
It’s just getting painful to watch. Can September be over?
(No matter how hard I try, I can’t seem to give up hope until they are mathematically eliminated).

For the Best
I’m going to be unable to watch the series this weekend and it’s really probably for the best. My poor heart just can’t take it.
The Cardinals broadcasters always yap about how they don’t believe in “must win” games. Guess what, gentlemen? These are must win games.
On a team with Chris Carpenter, Adam Wainwright, Jaime Garcia, Albert Pujols, Matt Holiday,...

Dear Ricky Horton,
Dear Ricky Horton,
There is currently no “dangerous” part of the Cardinals lineup.
Sincerely,
STL Cardinal Rants
P.S You are a GROWN man, going by Ricky is lame.
P.P.S Why am I still watching?

I just… I don’t… I can’t… I…
I got nothing.
Yay Albie
Yay for Albert hitting #400!
And because he did, I’m not even going to discuss what crap it is that Brendan Ryan isn’t in the line up.
Long Suffering Sigh
I just don’t know if I can watch anymore.

Dear Cardinals Offense,
Dear Cardinals Offense,
First and foremost, you are playing the Pirates. Just because your Ace started doesn’t mean you don’t have to show up. He shouldn’t have to be perfect.
Second, the *thisclosetoacomebackbutepicFAIL* is getting tiresome. Please don’t allow Felipe Lopez to bat with bases loaded and two outs in the ninth.
Third, Albert can’t do everything....

CG SO
I was glad to see Jaime Garcia so dominant today. I was glad to see he was allowed to complete the game and record his first complete game shutout. I was glad to see the Cardinals win their second straight with the help of Jay and Craig and look like the team they have the potential to be.
There’s some important ground to make up, but today’s start was immensely reassuring to this...

In Defense of Kyle Lohse
I’m going to do something I didn’t think I’d be doing a couple months ago. I’m going to defend Kyle Lohse.
I don’t think it’s exactly his fault he gave up 7 earned runs in 3 innings. I blame TLR & DD. Why?
This is Lohse’s first start off the D.L. While I don’t think he’s really that great of a pitcher, I do think you give a guy a...

I’m not cleaning the house.
I hope that Brandon Phillips was taught a valuable lesson.

Suck It
Suck it, Brandon Phillips. I guess you need more than one leg to beat the Cardinals. Moron.
Also, don’t mess with Yadi.
Second Also, though it is totally against my nature (and one of the reasons I hate hockey), I typically really enjoy a good baseball brawl. This one was… interesting. I think my favorite part was Suppan crawling out of the mess.
Third Also, Al Hrabosky is...

Old Walt
I miss Walt Jocketty.
There, I said it.
Sure, sometimes the dude pissed me off (Joe McEwing for Jesse Orosco? UGH). But, look what he just did for the Reds. While the Cardinals are giving away a lot (really good bat) for not a lot (a mediocre pitcher), the Reds give up nothing and get a little something in return.
I’m not the biggest Edmonds fan, but the guy gets it done....

Shut Up
So, I should just be like, yay they won! There was offense, pitching, defense, wee! But, something about last night’s game pisses me off. With Tony Larussa at the helm, that isn’t unusual.
With the craptastic way the Cardinals bullpen has been pitching (with the exception of Aaron Miles Al Hroboksy would like to point out, because he is not funny) I don’t understand why you...

Ugly
Since I don’t even want to discuss last night’s game, a game that is recapped on the Cardinals website with a picture of Aaron Miles pitching, I will merely say this.
Since when did Jason Larue decide to stop looking like a greasy, homeless, 1970s serial killer?

WTF? →
I’m just having a hard time understanding why the Cardinals would trade a good player for a pitcher whose E.R.A is almost 5.
What am I missing?

Aaron Miles →
Did you know Aaron Miles fought off armed robbers 10 years ago? (Click on the link to read about it).
And yet I’m still tired of seeing him in a Cardinals uniform.
(In my house, Aaron Miles’ nickname is T-Rex… because he has little T-Rex arms).

See No Evil
My husband’s extended family has been in town and his grandparents don’t have Fox Sports Midwest, so I haven’t caught the past two games. Probably for the best, let’s me honest. Don’t know if I’ll catch today’s, but I’m just hoping Carps does some magic.
I have a lot of extended family in Iowa/Chicago which, unfortunately, means they are Cubs...
Fox Sports Midwest
Fox Sports Midwest aired this conversation between Darryl Strawberry and Jack Clark about the Cardinals v. Mets rivalry of the 80s during the rain delay this evening.
Note to Jack Clark: When Darryl Strawberry makes you look like a douchebag, you’re a really big douchebag.

Comeback
In the 8th inning, I actually uttered the words, “they won’t win.”
But, LaRussa actually made a few decisions that didn’t make me want to tear my hair out.
1. Pinch-hitting with Albert and Yadi. Sure, it didn’t work out in Albert’s case, but at least Pujols made an appearance. I dislike the Sunday I-don’t-wanna-win lineup, but at least the two main...

Carpenter looked good last night after some rough starts pre-All Star break. The team looked good period against the Dodgers.
Let’s hope this is a sign of a resurgence of solid baseball and a reclamation of first place!

All Stars
I didn’t see much of the Home Run Derby last night, but my favorite part of it is always seeing the players with their kids.
There are a lot of problems with the All Star Game, but it’s so much fun to watch the players have fun.
Now, I just hope I can stay up late enough to watch the whole thing!

Ricky Horton
For me, listening to Ricky Horton call a game is like jabbing myself with forks for a few hours. And here is why. Because he is a moron. During the July 6th game against Colorado they were discussing how unusual it is that the Cardinals defense has been struggling. True. But Ricky says,
“The Cardinals are known for their great pitching first” then something else, then he listed...

Introduction
Hi, my name is N and I LOVE the Cardinals. I have been a baseball fan my whole life, and though I grew up in Chicago I was NEVER a Cubs fan. When I moved to St. Louis in 1996, the Cardinals felt like home.
Despite my love for the Cardinals, there are still a lot of things that piss me off about them. And, thus, must rant about. Here is the chosen location for those rants.
The things that you...
