STL Cardinal Rants |
I love the St. Louis Cardinals, but sometimes they piss me off. |
Well, the Pirates didn’t win their sixth straight. But that would be akin to a catastrophic volcano going off in Maine, so no one should really be surprised.
Of course, Pujols made sure that the Cardinals would avoid the sweep. Pujols’ day: 3-4, 2 HR, 3 RBI. Pujols now has 41 home runs, the sixth time in his career that he has topped the 40 home run mark. The one quibble I have with Pujols is he’s not old enough to have been playing during my 10 year old heyday, so I never had the chance to pretend to be him during Little League practice. And, technically, that’s not really his fault.
This season must have been hard for Cardinals fans. Despite Albert Pujols dominating the game as usual, he got help with with solid years from Matt Holliday and Colby Rasmus. Which neglects the excellent pitching from Jaime Garcia, Adam Wainwright and Chris Carpenter, etc. etc. etc. Seriously, how does that not add up to a record better than 78-74?
