STL Cardinal Rants

In the 8th inning, I actually uttered the words, “they won’t win.”

But, LaRussa actually made a few decisions that didn’t make me want to tear my hair out.

1. Pinch-hitting with Albert and Yadi.  Sure, it didn’t work out in Albert’s case, but at least Pujols made an appearance.  I dislike the Sunday I-don’t-wanna-win lineup, but at least the two main guys sitting out came in and Yadi did some damage.

2. Brendan Ryan bunting in the 9th.  I usually don’t agree with Larussa’s bunting decisions.  But here there’s no outs, your slowest guy on first, and the guy at the plate has been struggling.  It was a good decision, and Brendan got it down and it worked out.

I don’t expect much when Suppan starts, I don’t expect much when the Cardinals have a chance to sweep, but if the young guys continue to produce (and Tony doesn’t send them down) maybe my expectations will perk up.

Lastly, this sweep was exactly the way the Cardinals needed coming back from the All Star Break.
