STL Cardinal Rants |
I love the St. Louis Cardinals, but sometimes they piss me off. |
So, I should just be like, yay they won! There was offense, pitching, defense, wee! But, something about last night’s game pisses me off. With Tony Larussa at the helm, that isn’t unusual.
With the craptastic way the Cardinals bullpen has been pitching (with the exception of Aaron Miles Al Hroboksy would like to point out, because he is not funny) I don’t understand why you let Carpenter pitch to two batters in the eighth, then take him out.
Why not let Carpenter pitch the entire eighth unless he got into some serious trouble? In the world of Cardinals relief, 7-2 is not a strong enough margin to take a chance, especially after an evening where the bullpen gave up TWELVE runs.
I know McClellan hadn’t pitched the night before, so it’s a reasonable choice to bring him in, but I don’t get why he had to come in then.
We’re getting closer and closer to the days when every win will count. And these types of decisions will be make it or break it when it comes to the playoffs.
